About Me

Charon Normand-Widmer, LMSW, is a trauma specialist, somatic sex therapist, and relationship mentor with twenty-six years of practice. She guides individuals and couples in nervous system, intimacy, and embodiment work, accompanying them out of survival and into a more sovereign, fully inhabited way of being alive. Her approach begins where much talk therapy ends: in the body. Charon holds that lasting change occurs in the nervous system before it reaches the story, and that anger, desire, grief, and longing are not problems to be managed but intelligence to be met. Drawing on somatic trauma work, Compassionate Inquiry, Imago relational therapy, and years at the meeting place of psychology and eros, she creates spaces where people feel safe enough to soften, to feel again, and to desire without flinching. She works privately with individuals and couples, and leads a small number of carefully held group containers for those doing this work in community. She is the creator of Muse Codes and the author of Sovereign in Love, a nervous-system guide to holding desire, power, and intimacy without abandoning oneself. What clients return to, again and again, is her rare capacity to make a room feel safe. She is direct and tender in the same breath, unafraid of the places most people are taught to hide, and deeply attuned to the pace each body requires. Background & qualifications

I hold a Bachelors Degree in Cultural Anthropology from University of Michigan and a Master of Social Work degree from Wayne State university. I have graduated from the Compassionate Inquiry professional program ( Gabor Mate) and trained at Modern Sex Therapy Institutes. Trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Imago therapy, and currently enrolled in the first Neuropsychoanalysis cohort. My first career of 20 years as a holistic practitioner lends weight to my clinal perspectives.
